Gwendolyn - First Two Weeks

Gwendolyn has been a little angel the first two weeks. She only really cries when she's hungry, which seems to be more often lately. Now she's starting to get the whole breast feeding thing, so I don't have to feed her with a bottle all the time. Whew! (Linds may have a different perspective because she's still doing a lot of work)

Gwendolyn is gaining weight pretty well and last week hit her birth weight. Woo Hoo! She is 3 weeks and 2 days old and getting close to her actual expected birth date.

Barkley is getting to know Gwendolyn and after a few days of barking and being scared, I think he finally gets it. He's even starting to protect her a bit.

I've put up some more pictures on Flickr for the last couple of weeks while she has been at home with us.

Gwendolyn Rose Prothero

5 lbs, 14 oz
18.5 inches

Born 11:15 am, Nov. 9th, 2007

My dad's email to the Prothero family:
"At 12:30 am yesterday (Nov 9th) Lindsay’s water broke and, unprepared, Jason took her immediately to the hospital. We were called at 5:15 am to go to Jason’s house and pick up clothes, breakfast and a Pug (Barkley). We arrived at 6:30 am to fully lit house and a slightly confused pug. Under the direction of Jason, on the other end of the cell phone, we gathered the clothes and other items requested and loaded them into the bag they intended to packed in preparation for a trip to the hospital. Because Lindsay was already dilated to 6 centimeters, Jason was helping Lindsay with her contractions at the same time he was directing us throughout his house. Lindsay’s parent and 1 sisters arrived from Portland at about 10 am and Gwendolyn Rose arrived at 11:15 am – just 11 hours in labor. She was about 3 and one-half weeks early and a healthy 5 lbs 14 oz 18.5 inches. Lindsay’s other sister arrived from Seattle shortly after the birth. We all agreed she was the most beautiful baby we had ever seen."

We are having a baby!

Jason and I found out in March that we are going to have a baby! The due date is sometime within the first week of December (4th, 5th, 6th). I'm hoping for December 10th, because my grandmother and my aunt were both born on this date. Three generations born on this date would be very neat. We are going to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl next week and we are so excited! Either way is fine with us, we just want to be prepared. I can't wait to start working on the nursery.
